Day 153, 2 Corinthians 5
Some in Corinth were disparaging Paul, saying he was crazy, because he challenged and corrected their hierarchical religious system, with competing “super apostles” vying for position and rank. Some also pointed to Paul’s sufferings and frailty as proof he was less spiritual.
Here Paul addresses those accusations and dismisses them as false. His frailty is a consequence of his passion to see Jesus touch as many lives as possible, and his refusal to compete for position flows from his assurance that God has chosen and called him, so Paul lives to please God rather than seeking to impress men.
Taking those foundational principles to their conclusion, Paul urges us to join him in the radical new life of complete surrender and obedience to Jesus, so that we live to invite everyone else to be reconciled to God as we have been.
The conclusion is that the only one who was rightly aligned with God (Jesus) has exchanged His righteousness for our sin, so we no longer miss the mark but are transformed into full alignment with our Father, our Creator.
That’s good news worth sharing!
Have a great day!
Mark.
