Day 151, 2 Corinthians 3

2 Corinthians 3

In chapter 2 we saw a contrast between legalistic observance of positional regulations and the fragrance of grace. One is inadequate while appearing strong, the other appears weak but is godly, and more than adequate!

This theme continues today, as Paul contrasts the practice of comparing spirituality and commending the popular (as seen in Corinth) with God’s true measure of spiritual authority. Transformed lives and the manifest presence and power of the Holy Spirit are the true indicators of God’s commendation.

Legalistic structures resulting in regulations and external conformity have some power: the radiance of Moses show that, but the radiance came primarily from his relational proximity to God, not from the stone tablets he brought back.

The dynamite truth that Paul releases here is that we have been welcomed into face-to-face intimacy with God, who now lives in us by the Holy Spirit. No wonder we shine brightly and grow in freedom. This is the promise to everyone who will accept it!

Have a great day!

Mark.
