Day 185, Acts 27
The final two chapters of Acts are written in the first person, as befits the account of adventures they contain. Luke (our author) is clearly part of the group at this time, and they are later joined by Aristarchus from Thessalonica. Paul is among a group of prisoners being sent to Rome, guarded by Julius, a member of the Imperial Guard, and a detachment of soldiers. Their mode of travel is by ship on the Mediterranean Sea, so they are in the hands of sailors (a tough bunch of men because the Mediterranean is an inhospitable place at that time of year). This unlikely assembly of people is thrown together in danger and turmoil, but Paul stands out as the one to whom God gives revelation and wisdom at all points of the journey.
The whole chapter reads like an adventure movie, and when you see the journey on a map, you can understand why!
Map below.
But through the storms, God is with Paul, and all those around him benefit from the presence and purpose of God for His child.
That would preach! Apply the same truth to your life today, whatever storm you face, and however ungodly the companions around you.
Have a great day!
Mark.
