Day 103, Acts 6

Acts 6

After the deadly chaos of yesterday’s “lying to God” lesson, today we see a stark and powerful contrast. As the Church grows there is dissent over the benevolence ministry and the apostles have the gathering choose seven men to oversee this. Leadership development responding to the growing needs among them.

One of these seven is Stephen. And he’s clearly not just good at food distribution!

His miracles and wonders upset a bunch of anti-Christian sect members (see the footnote in The Passion translation) and they stir up both the crowd and the religious authorities against Stephen.

Notably, Stephen’s response is not to loudly defend himself, but to shine with heavenly love.

And we shall see the result tomorrow. For today, let’s reflect on how the love and presence of Jesus shines through Stephen, even under false accusation, and ask God to do the same for us whenever we are provoked.

Have a great day!

Mark.
