Day 78, Mark 13
Today, Mark adds some fresh insights to the “end of the age” discussions, questions, and teaching.
In particular, notice the emphasis on staying awake and alert. In the original language this denotes attention to God’s revelation and to the knowledge of salvation. In other words it is more about enjoying daily relationship with our Savior, hearing His instruction, than about guarding against being deceived or sidetracked by ungodly influences in the world.
The danger of living “on guard” is that we were not designed to flourish in that stance. Instead we are made to rest in living communion with the godhead.
Religion will warn you not to be deceived, and to “be on your guard”, but that twists the invitation of Jesus. Self-effort never saves, relationship with Jesus always does.
We’ll see more tomorrow, but for today, enjoy your time with your brother Jesus and the Holy Spirit who lives in you.
Have a great day!
Mark.
