Day 225, Hebrews 12
After the heroes of faith in Chapter 11, today we change focus to reflect on our own path in the race of life. We have a great cloud of witnesses cheering us on in this race. Although the race is tough, we can run with passion and determination with our eyes fixed on Jesus, just as a marathon runner focuses on the finish line.
Whenever the going gets tough (and it will), consider what Jesus went through - that will bring you through the opposition and the trials.
Just as Jesus always did what His Father wanted, so we also have the same Father, who trains us through the trials to be more like Jesus, and to validate our sonship. Nobody enjoys discipline, but with hindsight we can be thankful - for it aligns us with God. Prayer, worship and perseverance are all choices to make when we are tired! We choose them because we don’t take God’s generosity in vain.
Unlike the first covenant, which was marked by fire and smoke on the mountain which frightened the Israelites, we are already citizens of a different realm - heavenly reality called Zion. This better covenant is marked by the fire of God’s love, rather than the smoke of His judgment.
Catch The Fire afresh today!
Have a great day!
Mark.
