Day 212, 1 Peter 4
As Peter’s letter progresses, we see increasingly clearly that this former impetuous fisherman has been thoroughly transformed by Jesus. He is suffering for his faith, along with many of his readers, and yet the likeness of Christ shines brightly in his writing.
Celebrating in the midst of suffering, and counting it a privilege, is such a foreign concept to us that we may be tempted to dismiss this letter as irrelevant. Yet Peter WAS writing to those who were suffering great persecution, and his encouragement is to embrace it joyfully!
Through it all, the underlying principle is to trust God to do right, rather than to seek “right” by our own wisdom or our own desires.
That’s a challenge to live up to, but in Christ it is our destiny.
Have a great day!
Mark.
